Fall Trip To Upstate NY: Day 3, Keuka Lake Wine tour

Wineries:

  • Pleasant Valley Wine Co
    • We took the guided tour of the production facilities and property – Rich in history and very interesting but far too long. This ate up a lot of our time and ended up costing us a few visits to other places we planned on due to time constraints.
    • The tasting was good
    • Buildings are old and have a lot of character
  • Bully Hill
    • Fun tasting with humor – Probably my favorite/most memorable stop, I’d recommend putting this on your list
    • Good views from the deck which overlook the vineyards cascading down to the lake
    • Graphics on the bottles are non-traditional and fun (and they help you remember which ones you like)
    • Favorites: Sweet Walter Rose, Ravat 51
    • Most bottles ship to other states or you can order online
  • Heron Hill – tasting room on Canandaigua Lake
    •  The tasting room sat up on a hill overlooking the vineyards with foliage spanning down to the lake
    • Recommend going here
    • Good wine; bought a bottle from here

Dinner: Union Block Italian Bistro

  • I would have never picked this place based on its website but it was recommended to us by a worker at Heron Hill and it was a superb choice!
  • Charming romantic Italian place in the middle of the small town of Hammondsport
